Greetings as we begin this New Year.
St. Frances Cabrini Church on 2nd Street is closed this winter so that we can undertake some minor repairs, renovations, and refreshments. Over the course of many years, various statues, paintings and devotionals have been incorporated into the church environment. As part of the renovations we will reassess what will be kept and what will not be retained. This is a time of renewal. I begin with the notion that the Church must have a Crucifix, a stature or icon of Mary, a statue or icon of St. Joseph and a statue or icon of the Patron or Patroness of the church, in this case St. Frances Cabrini. Nothing else is required.
At this time, I would like to invite all interested parties to a meeting in my office to discuss your thoughts on this topic. If you believe that there is something in the church which has relevance and meaning to the parishioners of St. Damien’s Parish now is the time to make your thoughts known. If you believe that there is something additional which the church should incorporate now is the time to let us know. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 1 at 11 AM in my office. If you are unable to attend this meeting please be in touch with me via email prior to February 1 to share your thoughts
