The society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international organization of the lay Catholic men and women. It was founded in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam in Paris, France. The society is guided by the patronage of Saint Vincent de Paul, Father of the poor and apostle of charity. We gather together, especially during the holidays, to make sure the elderly, children, and families of St. Damien Parish and our community enjoy the holiday. We do this by giving out turkeys at Thanksgiving and hams at Christmas and Easter. We put up a giving tree and at each church at Christmas time to supply gifts for Infants, children, and the elderly. Assistance is given to the poor with food, clothing and other necessities throughout the year. The essential precept of the St. Vincent work is to provide help while scrupulously maintaining the privacy and the dignity of those we serve. We are always looking for new adult members young and old.
