A Word on Our Winter Mass Schedule

A Word on Our Winter Mass Schedule

We have reached a point as a community where it is necessary to make some changes to the St. Damien liturgical schedule.  The personnel is just no longer available to cover all of the Masses that we currently have scheduled.  I realize that these decisions are never easy, however I ask for your support.  After consultation with our staff and members of the Pastoral Council, I have made the following decisions:

As of Columbus Day, Monday, October 11, 2021 we will suspend the 4:00 PM Daily Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel.  The 4:00 PM Mass will resume on the Monday after Memorial Day, Monday, June 6, 2022.  Beginning at this time the 4 PM weekday Mass will only be celebrated from after Memorial Day until Labor Day during the summer schedule.  The intentions for that Mass will be moved to the same day at the 8:30 AM Mass.

As of the weekend after Columbus Day, October 16 and 17, 2021, until the beginning of the Spring Schedule, Palm Sunday, Saturday, April, 10, 2022, Saturday evening Vigil Masses will be celebrated at 4:00 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel and 5:30 PM at St. Frances.  There will be no Saturday evening Mass at St. Augustine.  Confessions will be held on Saturday from 3:00 PM until 3:30 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel and on Sunday at 3:00 PM (Spanish and English) at St. Frances.

A Saturday evening Mass at all three locations will resume on Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022 for the Spring, Summer, and Fall schedules.  The intentions for the 5:30 Mass at St. Augustine will move to the 9:00 AM Mass at the same location.

For the winter schedule, Sunday Masses will be celebrated at 7:30 AM at Good Counsel, 9:00 AM at St. Augustine, and 10:30 AM and 4:00 PM (Spanish) at St. Frances.

To sum up, there will be no 4 PM Daily Mass during the Spring, Fall, and Winter schedules and there will be two Saturday evening Masses during the Winter schedule.

Once again, I ask for your prayers and support.

Peace,

Fr. Tom Newton
